When people visit your website or social media page, photos and videos can help them understand what your business does.

Photos can show your products, team, space, or the details of your work. Videos can give people a look behind the scenes or help you explain your services in your own words.

Good content also helps your pages feel more personal. Instead of only telling people about your business, you can show them what it looks like and who is behind it.

You don’t need to post something new every day. Start with clear photos and videos that show what you offer and speak to the people you want to reach.

Many clients tell me they feel nervous before a video shoot. That’s completely normal, especially if you don’t spend much time in front of a camera.

You don’t have to know what to say or how to move before you arrive. I’ll guide you during the shoot and help you feel more comfortable as we go.

I can help you with where to look, how to stand, and how to say your message in a natural way. If a take doesn’t feel right, we can try it again or change the approach. There’s no need to get everything perfect the first time.

My goal is to make the shoot feel relaxed and help you show your personality. By the end, being on camera may feel a little easier than you expected.

Preparing for your first content shoot doesn’t have to be complicated. One thing I always tell clients: you don’t need to feel confident on camera before we start. I’m there to guide you.

A little preparation helps you feel more relaxed and gives us more time to create. Here are a few things I recommend before we meet.

Know Your Goal for Your First Content Shoot

Start with what you want people to learn about your business. Are you introducing yourself, explaining a service, showing a product, or answering questions your customers often ask?

You don’t need to arrive with a complete content strategy. A simple goal gives us a starting point. If you’re unsure what to film, we can discuss ideas before the shoot and plan the main points together.

Choose Outfits That Feel Like You

Bring a few outfit options that suit your business and feel comfortable. Try them on beforehand so you know you can sit, stand, and move easily.

If we’re filming several Reels, changing your outfit can give each video a different look. Also, think about the location and background so your clothes don’t blend into the space.

There’s no need to dress like someone else. I want you to look professional and still feel like yourself.

Get Your Space Ready

Tidy the areas that will appear on camera and have your products, tools, or materials ready. You don’t need to reorganize your entire business—just prepare the spaces we’ll use.

If you want me to film your work process, tell me what it involves beforehand. That helps us plan around the important steps.

The little details matter, too. Your hands at work, the tools you use, and the finishing touches can all help people understand what you do.

Share Your Ideas Before We Meet

Send me a few videos or photos you like. Tell me what caught your attention: the colors, the mood, the editing, or the way someone explains their service.

These examples help me understand your style. We’ll use them as inspiration to create content that fits your business.

Also, let me know about any products, services, or messages you definitely want included. Planning ahead helps us capture what matters to you.

Let Me Guide You on Camera

You don’t need perfect poses, memorized lines, or experience in front of the camera. I’ll help with where to look, how to move, and how to deliver your message naturally.

If you lose your words, we pause and try again. We almost never use every first take, and that’s part of the process.

Come prepared, but give yourself room to relax. The goal is to help people see the person and the work behind your business.

Me photographing outdoors during a content shoot.

A content shoot with me starts with learning about your business and what you want to share. Being in front of the camera can feel a little awkward, especially when you’re used to running your business behind the scenes. You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose or what to say. That’s something we work on together.

Here’s how a content shoot with me usually goes.

Before the Shoot: We Make a Plan

First, I want to learn about your business. What do you offer? Who are you trying to reach? Is there a service, product, or story you want to share?

We discuss ideas and what we’ll need to capture. If we’re filming talking videos, we plan the main points or prepare the text ahead of time. Having a plan helps us use our time well and gives you one less thing to worry about.

During the Shoot: I Guide You

I help with where to stand, where to look, and how to move. If you forget a sentence or don’t like a take, we try again. You don’t have to get everything right the first time.

Along with talking videos, I capture the details that make your business yours: your space, your products, your team, and the work happening behind the scenes.

I like content that feels natural. Sometimes a small moment between takes says more about you than a perfectly rehearsed line.

After the Shoot: I Bring It Together

I review the footage, choose the strongest moments, and edit the videos we planned. Depending on the project, that can include music, subtitles, voiceover, and your branding.

If we take photos during filming, those are shared unedited unless we arrange photo editing separately.

The goal is to give you content you feel good about sharing—content that looks professional and still feels like you.

Let’s Talk About Your Business

I create video and photo content for businesses in Chicago and the suburbs. If you’re ready to show more of what you do, contact me through my website. Tell me a little about your business, and we’ll start with a conversation.

You don’t need a new filming day for every social media post. With a little planning, one content shoot can give you several Reels and photos to use over time.

Before the shoot, we can plan different topics, outfits, and shots. During filming, I capture a mix of talking videos, details, and behind-the-scenes clips. These can be edited into separate pieces of content for your social media.

This helps you stay active online without trying to film something new every week. I create content for businesses in Chicago and nearby suburbs, and I help make the process simple from planning to filming.
